PROPELLIC TRAVEL MARKETING INDEX

The Impact of the 2026 Middle East Conflict on Travel Marketing

An analysis of how regional instability is reshaping traveler behavior across 60+ travel brands and 27 destinations, with data your competitors haven't seen yet.
In March 2026, we analyzed data from four integrated marketing platforms across 60+ middle-market travel brands and 27 destinations to understand how the escalating Middle East conflict is reshaping traveler behavior. The findings below are a representative sample. They point to a more complex picture than headline sentiment suggests: hesitation patterns extending well beyond the conflict zone, and a small cluster of destinations where demand is not just holding but actively converting at growing rates.
The full briefing maps both the risk and the opportunity across all 27 markets.

The full report launches April 23rd. Register for the free live briefing below to get the findings on launch day.

SAMPLE KEY FINDINGS

The Confidence Crisis: Focus Region Impact

Across conflict-adjacent destinations in our sample, search and session activity has increased sharply while commercial conversion has declined, even amidst dramatic increases in ad spend. Our data suggests much of the elevated traffic may reflect existing travelers checking cancellation terms and monitoring safety advisories rather than researching new trips.
JORDAN

Sessions MoM

-25.81%

Conv Rate MoM (Google Ads)
In our sample, impressions held relatively steady while conversion rate declined sharply. This pattern is consistent with visibility without active commercial intent.

-46.11%

Conv Rate MoM (Google Ads)
Session volume in our sample appears consistent with cancellation and safety-check behavior rather than new commercial demand.
The Unexpected Finding:
Mediterranean “Sentiment Spillover”
Greece and Spain would typically be expected to benefit from conflict-zone avoidance as alternative summer destinations. Instead, our data suggests they may be caught in the same hesitation pattern. Session volumes are dramatically up year-over-year, a signal that underlying demand appears real, while month-over-month conversion has softened. Our directional read: these may be Coiled Springs, not structural declines.

The demand signal is there. The strategic question is when it converts.
Across our sample, travelers appear to be in a research and wait posture rather than having abandoned these destinations. Operators who maintain ad presence through this period, build remarketing audiences while CPMs are lower, and retarget when confidence returns may be well positioned for the rebound. The full briefing also identifies the destinations where demand is actively converting right now and what they have in common.
